On May 23, the seminar on port industry
development trends and hot issues and the release of the annual report of the
global port development report (2022) was successfully held, inviting nearly 400 industry colleagues through
online Tencent meetings and live video broadcasts. The conference was hosted by
Shanghai International Shipping Institute, and was chaired by Zhao Nan, Deputy
Secretary-General of SISI. Zhang Jieshu, Secretary-General of SISI delivered a welcome
speech.
Xie Wenqing, Deputy Director of the Port Development Research
Department, and Wu Jiazhang, analyst, made a sharing report on the Global Port
Development Report. They pointed out that the global epidemic has been
effectively controlled in 2022, but the global economic growth has weakened,
and the growth rate of trade volume and port throughput has narrowed as governments
successively ended large-scale fiscal and tax stimulus policies, coupled with
geopolitical conflicts, international trade sanctions, cross-border supply
chain disruptions and other international events. At the same time, high
inflation in Europe and the United States continues to suppress the vitality of
the consumer market, the container shipping trade situation is not optimistic,
and global terminal operators actively carry out diversified business to reduce
investment risks. Looking forward to 2023, the global port production situation
may tend to moderate recovery.
The
global port development hot topic discussion session specially invited Zou
Junshan, Chief Representative of Rotterdam Port Authority in China, Ding
Songbing, General Manager of Strategic Research Department of SIPG Group, Jiang
Ming, Director of Strategic Research Department of Shandong Port Group, and
Jiang Minggao, Deputy General Manager of Strategic Innovation Department of
China Merchants Port, to attend the meeting, sharing their experiences and
forecasts on the port production situation and development trend in 2023.
With the enthusiastic participation of all the
participants, this seminar and exchange meeting was a complete success.
