THE Malaysian state government of Negeri Sembilan has joined forces with Tanco Holdings Berhad, to start building an artificial intelligence (AI) based container port, reports Singapore's TechNode Global (TNGlobal).

To be situated at Dickson Bay in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, the port stands to redefine the region's strategic development, say its proponents.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Transport of Malaysia, this pioneering endeavour represents a significant leap forward in fostering economic growth, they said.Midports Holdings Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Tanco Holdings Berhad with a majority stake of 79 per cent, and Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan (Pemerbadanan) (MBINS) have signedventure (JV) agreement to oversee the development of the proposed smart AI container port.

This ambitious project includes the utilisation of an additional 83.19 acres of seabed land submerged off Dickson Bay in the District of Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.

"This smart AI container port is not just a development; it's a leap towards revolutionising our state's and Malaysia's economic landscape," said Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun.

"We are setting the foundation for future generations, ensuring Negeri Sembilan plays a crucial role in both the state's and nation's economic growth and global maritime logistics."
