China's shipbuilding three major indicators continue to maintain global leadership from January to February this year

On 28 March, China Shipbuilding Industry Association released the latest data of China's shipbuilding in January-February 2024, and the international market share of the three major indicators of shipbuilding continued to lead the world.

The latest data show that in January-February 2024, China's shipbuilding completion volume of 8.26 million deadweight tonnes, an increase of 95.4% year-on-year; the volume of new orders of 15.2 million deadweight tonnes, an increase of 64.4% year-on-year; as of the end of February, the volume of orders in hand of 149.19 million deadweight tonnes, an increase of 31.3% year-on-year, the three major indicators of shipbuilding international market share continues to be the global leader.

Not only do the three major indicators of shipbuilding continue to lead the world, January-February this year, China's new orders accounted for 69.5% of the international market share, which means that China's shipbuilding industry is gradually taking the initiative in the global market. The volume of shipbuilding completion and hand-held orders also accounted for 56.5 per cent and 56.1 per cent of the global total, and China has become a major shipbuilding country with world influence.
