CHINA Eastern Airline's latest operating results show that the carrier recorded a cargo volume of 134,800 tonnes in September, up 3.98 per cent year on year and 6.64 per cent over August, Xinhua reports.
Domestic cargo volume slid 3.3 per cent year on year to 65,600 tonnes, but was 14.1 per cent more than in August. International cargo volume increased 15.1 per cent year on year and 0.33 per cent over August to 59,300 tonnes. Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan cargo volume fell 4 per cent year on year but rose 1.2 per cent over August to 9,800 tonnes.
In this month, China Eastern' passenger volume grew 1.9 per cent year on year to 5.7 million people, but fell 11.6 per cent compared to August.
Domestic passenger volume grew 2.55 per cent to 4.9 million persons. International passenger volume went up 3.3 per cent year on year but 13.7 per cent down month on month to 618,900 people. Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan travellers dropped 13.9 per cent year on year and 18 per cent month on month to 202,600 people.
Passenger load factor in this month was 79.12 per cent, 0.13 percentage points more than in the same month in 2010 but 3.54 percentage points less than in August.
From January to September, China Eastern's cargo volume totalled 1.06 million tonnes, down 2.5 per cent year on year. Passenger volume dropped 6.9 per cent to 51.9 million people.
