The United States Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) classified Anji Shipping. It considered the carrier to be controlled by the Chinese government and placed it on the "Regulated Carriers List".

The "Regulated Carrier List" refers to ocean common carriers operating in the United States, i.e., foreign trading carriers whose operating assets are owned or controlled, directly or indirectly, by a foreign government. Controlled carriers are subject to heightened regulatory oversight by the Commission.
Earlier this month, South Korea's HMM joined the list. China's COSCO and its subsidiary Orient Overseas (OOCL) are among the most recognisable companies on the FMC's list of controlled carriers.
