Italian offshore giant Saipem has been awarded offshore contracts in Saudi Arabia totalling around $500 million.
The contract covers two offshore projects under an existing long-term agreement with Saudi Aramco, according to information released by Saipem earlier this week.
Under the contract, Saipem will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) of approximately 50 kilometres of crude oil trunkline at the Abu Safa field; and for the production maintenance programme at the Berri and Manifa fields.
This is reportedly the second offshore contract Saipem has been awarded in recent days. Last Friday (12 July), the company and its consortium partners signed a brand new framework agreement with British Petroleum (BP) for offshore projects in Azerbaijan, with a total value of around $300 million and Saipem's share of $250 million. The agreement is for a period of three years, with an option to extend it for a further two years.
Under the agreement, Saipem and its consortium partners are responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of subsea infrastructure and field lifecycle services related to the Azerbaijan offshore project.
Currently, Saipem has seven fabrication facilities, 15 drilling rigs (nine of which are owned) and an offshore fleet of 21 construction vessels (17 owned and four third-party owned and managed by the company).
