Cruise Tourism Market Recovery! Chinese Crew Ratio Proposed to Increase
Date:2024-08-14 Readers:
According to a Hong Kong media release by Wireless News, the mainland cruise tourism market is gradually recovering, benefiting tourism and sourcing industries in a number of port cities. Some cruise operators have indicated that they will gradually increase the proportion of Chinese crew members.

Just in time for the summer vacation, many people are preparing to travel as a family. Some travel agents said that cruise tourism is especially popular this year, especially with the tourism activities in port cities. The first domestically produced large-scale cruise ship “AIDA - Magic City” since its maiden voyage on January 1, so far received more than 200,000 passengers, accounting for 40% of the national cruise tourism market, the operator plans to increase the proportion of Chinese crew members.

The operator plans to increase the proportion of Chinese crew members,” said Qian Jun, human resources director of AIDA Cruises' fleet. ”Now that China's cruise ships are becoming more and more popular, we want to gradually increase the proportion of Chinese crew members at all levels, and we will train them professionally, so that the whole team will be a local Chinese team with an international outlook and a very professional Chinese culture.”

In addition to benefiting the tourism industry, every time a cruise ship berths at a port and replenishes its supplies, it also favors the development of the procurement industry. The head of the cruise ship procurement department said that for a six-day and five-night trip, more than 2 million yuan of vegetables, fruits, drinks and other supplies have to be purchased, an average of about 200 million yuan a year.

A Shanghai cruise ship supplies supplier said: “This is our supply of vegetables and fruits to be used on this voyage, he (cruise ship related person in charge) will be sampling, in order to ensure the quality of the cruise ship food supply, the vast majority of the local market up.” The State Council announced new regulations in June to provide more convenience for enterprises that supply supplies directly to cruise ships.

Some economists also believe that the new model will allow more international travelers to taste domestically produced agricultural products, red wine and other products, bringing more substantial economic gains.
