This Chinese shipyard has won another large order for EPS dual-fuel container ships!
Date:2024-09-09 Readers:
Singaporean shipping giant Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) has increased the size of its container ship order booking with New Era Shipbuilding for another LNG dual-fuel ultra-large container ship.

EPS, which has one of the largest newbuilding programmes in the industry, has recently booked an additional four LNG dual-fuel 18,000 TEU containerships with New Era Shipbuilding, according to shipbrokers. This follows the formal signing of contracts with New Era Shipbuilding at the end of June, covering eight confirmed builds and an additional four optional LNG dual-fuel 18,000 TEU containerships.

The four new dual-fuel containerships, each costing more than $200 million, are expected to be delivered between 2027 and 2028. All of these newbuildings will be chartered by France's Duffy Line, industry sources said.

In addition to the 18,000 TEU series, EPS has ordered seven 8,400 TEU containerships from the same yard. The order includes four confirmed vessels at a cost of approximately $130 million per newbuilding, as well as three additional optional newbuildings to be delivered in 2026.

According to shipbuilding sources, New Era Shipbuilding will also receive an order for 16,000 TEU containerships from Maersk, at a cost of about $220 million per vessel. In recent months, the shipyard has undertaken a number of containership projects including SFL , Capital Maritime and Seaspan.
