Date:2024-09-23 Readers:
According to the Guangzhou Maritime Bureau 22 informed that at about 21:45 on 21 September, a container ship in the process of berthing Guangzhou Nansha III dock rubbed the dock operation ship, resulting in the operation of the ship's three containers fell into the water, the situation is urgent.

At 22:00 on the evening of the 21st, the Guangzhou Maritime Search and Rescue Centre received an emergency report that a Panamanian container vessel had accidentally scraped against a Sierra Leonean container vessel under operation when it was attempting to berth at the terminal, resulting in three containers on board the latter vessel accidentally falling into the water and floating on the surface of the water, and that this unexpected situation then adversely affected the order of passage through the surrounding waterways and the normal operation of the terminal.

At 8:30 on the 22nd, through the close collaboration of multiple forces and efficient operations, the danger was effectively controlled, and now confirmed that the two ships involved in the incident no casualties, and no pollution of the waters. At the same time, all the three containers in the water have been safely lifted back to the pier, and the order of the waterway and the operation of the pier returned to normal. This emergency operation demonstrated the rapid response and efficient coordination capability of Guangzhou Maritime Safety Department in the face of emergencies.

Guangzhou Maritime Safety Department reminds that: strong convective weather has occurred frequently recently, when berthing and de-berthing, the weather information should be combined as much as possible, choose the right time to start the berthing operation when the wind and current conditions are suitable, and leave enough power margin for the ship to better resist the influence of the wind and current. In case of emergency, please call ‘12395’ in time.
