DHL has commenced a new direct Less than Container Load (LCL) service from Shenzhen to Los Angeles.

"Fuelled by the export of high-value goods such as machinery and electric equipment, bilateral trade between both countries will inevitably be on the rise and we are well positioned to facilitate the anticipated growth," said Kelvin Leung, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding, north Asia Pacific.

With a transit time of 15 days, the Shenzhen (pop 8.9 million)-Los Angeles (pop 15.2 million) LCL service will target customers in south China, especially small and medium-sized enterprises located in Dongguan (pop 6.4 million), Foshan (pop 5.9 million), Zhongshan (pop 2.4 million) and Zhuhai (pop 1.4 million).

Operated by Danmar Lines, DHL Global Forwarding's in-house carrier, this new service follows the launch of LCL services from Shenzhen to New York (pop 19 million) and Vancouver (pop 2.1 million) last year. DHL currently operates 45 direct LCL services between Asia Pacific and North America.
