Shippers are rushing exports from southeast Asia to the US ahead of the August tariff deadline, but remain hesitant with air cargo scheduling, reported London's Air Cargo News.
Dimerco noted uncertainty in planning due to pending country-specific tariff announcements and peak typhoon season. The US has issued tariff letters to 25 nations.
Malaysia faces a 25 per cent US tariff, the Philippines 19 per cent and Thailand 36 per cent. Resulting demand spike has tightened capacity and raised rates.
Singapore's role as a regional hub may be hit by its future tariff assignment. Vietnam's US-bound capacity is stretched due to reliance on connecting flights.
China-US negotiations continue with an August 12 deadline, while rates from China remain stable. Taiwan-US rates are rising due to tech sector demand.
