FESCO boosts India-UAE-Russia box volume 30pc
Date:2025-08-07 Readers:
Russia's FESCO Transportation Group reported a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in containerized cargo volumes on its India-UAE-Novorossiysk route in the first half of 2025, according to Interfax.

The company shipped over 8,500 TEU on the FESCO Indian Line West (FIL-W) service, which connects the Indian ports of Nhava Sheva and Mundra, UAE's Jebel Ali, and Russia's Novorossiysk.

Import volumes surged 54 per cent to more than 5,000 TEU, driven by shipments of construction materials, chemicals, plastics, rubber, food products, and refrigerated cargo including pharmaceuticals.

Export volumes rose 4 per cent to over 3,500 TEU, consisting mainly of Russian forest products, paper, metals, and agricultural goods.

The service now operates with three container vessels totaling over 3,000 TEU in capacity, following the addition of a third ship in June. Transit times are 17 days from UAE and 21 days from India, with sailings every two weeks.

Through feeder connections, FIL-W also links to ports in Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa, expanding its reach across the Indian Ocean and Middle East.

FESCO is controlled by Russia's state corporation Rosatom, and continues to expand its maritime logistics footprint amid growing non-commodity trade with South Asia and the Gulf.
