Hapag-Lloyd increased transport volumes 11 per cent to 6.7 million TEU in the first half of 2025, but profits fell amid volatile demand, port congestion and geopolitical risks, reported Fresh Fruit Portal.
Seconduarter EBITDA was US$1.9 billion, with liner shipping revenue up to $10.4 billion, driven by eastest trades. Average freight rates held steady at $1,400 per TEU.
Chief executive Rolf Habben Jansen said the company ended the half "on a solid note" and would focus on growth, operational performance and cost optimisation, while helping customers manage market volatility.
The carrier cut its fullear EBITDA forecast to US$2.8.8 billion and EBIT to US$250 million.25 billion, citing continued uncertainty over freight rates and geopolitical tensions.
