Orient Overseas Container Line reported a 25.9 per cent decline in liner revenue for the third quarter ended 30 September 2025, despite modest growth in liftings and capacity, according to unaudited figures released by Orient Overseas (International) Limited, reported Hong Kong's OOIL.
Revenue for the quarter fell to US$2,264.2 million, down from the same period in 2024. Total liftings rose by 0.7 per cent, while loadable capacity increased by 4.2 per cent. The overall load factor declined by 2.8 per cent year-on-year.
Average liner revenue per TEU dropped by 26.5 per cent compared to the third quarter of last year, reflecting continued pressure on freight rates.
For the first nine months of 2025, liner revenue fell by 8.3 per cent compared to the same period in 2024. Liftings rose by 4.7 per cent and loadable capacity by 6.7 per cent.
The overall load factor for the nine-month period was 1.5 per cent lower than the previous year, while average revenue per TEU declined by 12.4 per cent.
