Yang Ming orders six 8,000-TEU methanol-ready ships
Date:2025-11-06 Readers:

Taiwan's Yang Ming has signed contracts for six new 8,000-TEU dual-fuel container vessels, reports Genoa's Informare.

The order includes three newbuilds from Japanese shipyards Nihon Shipyard Co and Imabari Shipbuilding Co, and three additional vessels to be acquired from Shoei Kisen Kaisha. All six ships will be capable of running on methanol.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028. The new vessels will gradually replace Yang Ming's ageing fleet of 5,500 TEU ships, some of which have been in service for over two decades.

The investment reflects Yang Ming's commitment to fleet modernisation and cleaner fuel alternatives as part of its long-term sustainability strategy.
