Maersk orders eight 18,000 TEU LNG ships in China
Date:2025-11-11 Readers:
Maersk has placed an order for eight 18,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel ships at New Times Shipbuilding in Jiangsu, with options for four more. Each vessel is priced at around US$193 million, with deliveries scheduled for 2028 and 2029, reports Singapore's Splash 247.

The order is part of Maersk's ongoing fleet renewal strategy and strengthens its ties with the Jiangsu yard. The Danish carrier is already set to receive 26 LNG dual-fuel vessels from NTS over the next four years.

The pipeline includes ten 16,800 TEU ships, split evenly between SFL Corp and Seaspan, six owned 15,000 TEU units, and ten 8,700 TEU vessels from Capital Ship Management.

With the addition of the new 18,000 TEU series, Maersk will have taken delivery of more than 30 large LNG-powered ships from NTS alone.
