It is reported that RCL and TS Lines have jointly launched a Far East Red Sea route, opening up a new direct channel for shippers to connect China's major export hubs with key gateways in the Red Sea. Evergreen will rent cabin space on this route under the OGRD brand.
The initial service of this route is a biweekly liner loop, deploying 3000 TEU vessels to dock successively in Shanghai, Qingdao, Guangzhou (Nansha), Shenzhen (Shekou), Jeddah, Suhenaquan, Aqaba, Jeddah, and finally return to Shanghai.
This route aims to meet the growing demand for cargo transportation in the Red Sea region, especially for consumer goods, machinery and equipment, and building materials destined for Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In addition, the route also provides transshipment opportunities through Jeddah Port, one of the fastest-growing hubs in the Red Sea region.
The opening of this route reflects the growing interest of regional shipping companies in expanding China Red Sea transportation capacity. In the past year, the demand growth in this market has exceeded the supply capacity of existing services.
