Singapore-based Flex Box Shipping has confirmed an order for four 8,800-TEU containerships at South Korea's HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, reported Singapore's Splash 247.
Alphaliner said the vessels will be conventionally powered, with deliveries scheduled to start in September 2027. One ship will be handed over each quarter until the third quarter of 2028.
Flex Box, a Chinese-controlled and Singapore-based owner and commercial manager, has carved out a niche in the container segment while also maintaining exposure to the capesize bulker market.
The company acts as an umbrella for smaller Chinese owners including Maoming Gangxin Shipping, Seacon Qingdao and Fujian Zhonghang Shipping. It currently controls a fleet of 15 vessels, 13 of which are containerships.
Its container fleet is split between internationally trading tonnage, often acquired secondhand, and vessels purpose-built for China's.
