On behalf of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Mr. Tijn Folmer, Business Director of the Erasmus Smart Port of Rotterdam, and Ms. Tu Jaiwei, Business Assistant of Rotterdam Shanghai Office, visited Shanghai International Shipping Center (SISI) on the morning of October 27, 2010. SISI Secretary-General Zhen Hong expressed warm welcome to Tijn Folmer.

Located in Rotterdam of the Netherlands, Erasmus University is a world-renowned comprehensive university focusing on application and practice. Dedicated to port logistics research, the University has achieved good results, especially in the sphere of logistics supply chain in inland areas.

The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on long-term cooperation in the future. Both sides recognized a partnership between the Port of Shanghai and the Port of Rotterdam, and held that the gradual increase in trade between the two cities will lead to increasingly closer cooperation between the two ports. In addition, Mr. Tijn Folmer said that he’s glad to attend the High-level Roundtable Forum on Port Development to be held by SISI on December 8 to discuss the strategic transformation of future ports. The Forum will also be attended by well-known professors from Port of Rotterdam Authority and Erasmus Smart Port.
