SUPPLY chain services provider APL Logistics will help to support the locomotive major Electro-Motive Diesel in a 4,645-square metre facility for production and warehousing of its locomotive components in Gurgaon, India.
EMD, a wholly-owned unit of Caterpillar, signed a deal with Indian Railways (IR) providing service support at various facilities around the country. It has recently delivered a super high-speed diesel locomotive, the most powerful ever to run on Indian railways.
APL Logistics helped the US-based EMD to find and design the site at the satellite city of Delhi in the state of Haryana. It has also managed its distribution in North America at Hodgkins, Illinois and London, Ontario and North Platte, Nebraska.
EMD, headquartered in LaGrange, Illinois, builds and sells diesel-electric locomotives for all commercial railway applications in more than 70 countries worldwide. It is also a global provider of diesel engines for marine propulsion, offshore and land-based oil well drilling rigs as well as for stationary power generation.
