Chennai airport workers charged with stealing DHL's Nokia mobile phones

    THREE private contract employees at Chennai airport were arrested in connection to thefts of Nokia sample cellular phones off a conveyor belt in the loading area of a Jet Airways flight operated by DHL en route to Singapore via China.

    Of the 32 Nokia cellular phones 14 were recovered from the driver Sudhakar, 30, of Anakaputhur, and cargo handlers Mahesh of Meenambakkam and Saravanan, 34, of Selaiyur who was detained by airport police. Saravanan admitted to the theft helped by his colleagues when questioned, The Hindu newspaper reported.

    The incident is one of several reported by DHL officials in Chennai in the last six months complaining of systematic pilferage.
