THE US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has announced it will defer the enforcement of 100 per cent screening of inbound air cargo that was initially to be in full implementation by December 31 deadline.
The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) chairman Michael Steen praised the TSA's decision that it showed the "foresight to listen to, and work with the industry."
Said Mr Steen: "We expect to engage in further consultation with the TSA, along with other industry partners, to ensure we continue to maintain the highest possible levels of air cargo security. This has always been our priority, and we are pleased that TSA has taken into account industry's views."
Back to April, Delta Air Lines cargo chief Neel Shah, also chairman of TIACA's security sub-committee warned that this policy would cause "significant global supply chain disruption".
