CEVA Logistics strikes deal with Miele white goods in South Africa
Date:2011-10-10 Readers:

CEVA Logistics has signed a three-year contract with Miele to handle outbound logistics and the distribution of white goods in South Africa, as well as their receipt, storage and assembly.

The service provider will also handle reverse logistics and disposal of old equipment, in addition to pick and pack, POD (Proof of Delivery) management and quality control activities. What makes this contract unique is the domestic appliance manufacturer's special requirement for direct deliveries to consumers' homes, including connection and installation services, a CEVA statement said.

All logistics activities will be managed at two warehouses located in Johannesburg and Cape Town, where 2,000 square metres will be dedicated to Miele's goods. The logistics operator will also provide the customer with a dedicated fleet to meet its distribution requirements and to ensure on-time delivery.

"We have significant expertise in the white goods sector and through innovative solutions we will be able to meet Miele's needs in South Africa and support them in consolidating their market presence in the country," said CEVA's regional director Pam Cornish.
