Jacobson acquires Hong Kong’s CGL
Date:2011-01-26 Readers:

JHCI Holdings, parent of the Jacobson Companies, a 3PL logistics provider, has acquired Chimerica Global Logistics (CGL), a logistics service company headquartered in Hong Kong with subsidiary operations in mainland China.
The acquisition is another major step for Jacobson Companies in expanding its international logistics capabilities. Earlier this month, Jacobson announced the formation of its new international
operations business entity, Jacobson Global Logistics, (JGL), registered in Hong Kong.
CGL will be fully integrated into JGL, offering seamless end-to end-logistics services in Hong Kong and China. Jacobson Global Logistics will provide a full range of international logistics services to and from the United States and within Asia, including freight forwarding (ocean and air), PO management, buyer’s consolidation, origin value-added services, bonded warehousing, and deconsolidation, in addition to international multi-modal transportation services.
The CGL team has provided logistics services for several Fortune 500 companies in China since starting in the logistics sector in 1999. Currently employing a staff of more than 300, the company has a well-established infrastructure in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and major distribution hubs and agent offices in the US and Australia.
CGL’s forte is designing and operating custom-tailored logistics services including ocean and air freight service, origin value-added services for retailers, buyer’s consolidation, vendor managed inventory (VMI), and warehousing among many other supply chain related services.
“China is a core market in our Asia development plans,” said Brian Lutt, president and CEO of JHCI and Jacobson Companies. “CGL fits to a very high degree into our geographic and industry vertical strategy with its China base and retail industry focus. We are excited to have CGL's management team joining Jacobson Global Logistics and expect the seamless integration of operations into Jacobson Companies during the first quarter.”
