CENTRAL China hinterland province Jiangxi and southwest coastal province Fujian have signed an agreement to build a bulk commodity trade centre in Fujian, Xinhua reports.
According to the agreement, the bulk trade centre will be jointly invested by Jiangxi Railway Investment Group, Fujian Provincial Communication Transportation Group and Putian State-own Assets Investment Company. The facility will include two berths in the east of the Dongwu port area at the port of Meizhou Bay. The two berths will become operational at the end of this year and early next year.
The two provinces also have signed cooperation agreements on developing Fujian's Jiangyin container terminal and a logistics park for Jiangxi's trade cargo at Fujian.
In recent years, Jiangxi and Fujian are forging closer ties in transportation. Jiangxi companies have formed an investor group to build logistics facilities with customs services at Fujian, while Fujian have set up "dry ports" in Jiangxi cities.
