Plans Ready for Inclusion of the 9-km Coastline in Jinshan into Port Services
Date:2013-03-26 Readers:

On the morning of Mar. 9th, the Expert Consultation on the Revised Plans for Jinshan Port Operation Section of Hangzhou Bay Port Area of Shanghai Port was held in Jinshan District. Through two day’s field reconnaissance and discussions, the expert panel unanimously passed the Comments on Examining the Revised Plans for Jinshan Port Operation Section of Hangzhou Bay Port Area of Shanghai Port, indicative of further development of the 9-km coastline in Jinshan.

Boasting the last deepwater port resources in Hangzhou Bay Port Area, Jinshan Port Operation Section stretches 9 km from Qijiadun Vehicle-Passenger Ferry to the western boundary of Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. According to the plans, the 9-km natural coastline will be included into port services, mainly for the sake of port-centered industries and the economic development of Shanghai and neighboring areas, with passenger transport and the handling of coal, oil, liquid chemicals, containers for domestic trade, sundries and Ro/Ro as the mainstay. The 3,580-km coastline west of Longquan Port will see its functions adjusted to urban life, with passenger transport as the subsidiary. Longquan Port will be divided into a general cargo terminal for public use, a dry bulk terminal and a liquid bulk terminal. The plans have a vital bearing on the future urban development and port construction in the district.
