On December 23, 2011, the container throughput at the Port of Shanghai exceeded 30 million TEUs. In this context, Shanghai TV and Dragon TV jointly interviewed Professor and Secretary-General Zhen Hong of Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI). According to Professor Zhen, such a breakthrough signaled the leading position of the Port of Shanghai among global ports. The improvement of port container throughput helps attract the world’s leading shipping service industries to gather in Shanghai, so as to boost the development of Shanghai’s shipping service industry, and thus promote the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
