In order to ensure a stable development of domestic shipping market, and to guide and optimize the rational allocation of social resources, the Ministry of Transport officially issued the Notice on further Regulating Shipper‘s Investment in Domestic Shipping Industry on October 18, 2011. The Notice specifies that those shippers with exact need to develop their own fleets shall be guided to cooperate with large backbone enterprises to set up joint shipping ventures based on assets, and establish a long-term mechanism for win-win cooperation. It was in this context that China Shipowners’ Association organized this Roundtable to promote the implementation of the Notice and achieve win-win cooperation between China shipping companies and shippers through communications among ship-owners, shippers, experts and scholars.
At the Roundtable, representatives of ship-owners, shippers, experts and the Association made active and in-depth discussion on the Notice and expressed high recognition. Executive Vice President Zhang Shouguo of China Shipowners’ Association concluded that this Roundtable played an important role in strengthening communication and understanding between Chinese ship-owners and shippers, promoting cooperation, transforming service, restructuring, and achieving long-term strategic cooperation between the two sides.
