On December 19, Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) and China Academy of Transportation Sciences signed in Beijing on the establishment of the “Shanghai International Shipping Institute Beijing Branch” (hereinafter referred to as “SISI Beijing Branch”) and held the opening ceremony. Deputy Director Gao Haiyun of International Shipping Division of the Department of Water Transport, the Ministry of Transport attended the ceremony. Participants also included President Huang Youfang of Shanghai Maritime University (SMU); Secretary-General Zhen Hong, Secretary Li Gang, and Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Jieshu of SISI; President Li Zuomin, Vice President Zhou Xiaohang, Division Chief Pan Fengming of Science & Research Division, and Deputy Division Chief Tian Chunlin of Science & Research Division, China Academy of Transportation Sciences; Director Wang Xianjin, Deputy Chief Engineer Xu Ping and other representatives of Transportation Research Center.
The signing conference commenced with Vice President Zhou Xiaohang introducing the background and preliminary work of the current cooperation. Then, President Huang Youfang and President Li Zuomin introduced the development and application of international shipping research in their respective organizations, and put forward suggestions and expectations for future development of “SISI Beijing Branch”. Later, the two sides signed the cooperation agreement. Mr. Gao Haiyun participated in the unveiling ceremony.
During communication, Mr. Gao Haiyun gave full recognition to the positive significance of the cooperation. He believed that the cooperation, based on advantages complementation and resources integration, will give birth to a leading research and consulting platform for the industry. Meanwhile, pursuant to relevant requirements of the Ministry of Transport for industry development, he expressed his hope that both sides shall emphasize mutual communication and better connection with the industry, strengthen supports for the Ministry of Transport in formulating policies to promote international shipping development, and make greater contribution to accelerating the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
