Successfully held from May 13 to 14, 2011, the Bunker Management Seminar specially invited Mr. Kenneth Cheung, Sales & Marketing Director of Chimbusco Pan Nation Petro-Chemical Co., Ltd., as the course lecturer. Mr. Cheung once successively held the posts of General-Manager of Conmark Bunker/Linkyong Shipping Consultancy Ltd.; Chief Reprehensive of OW Bunker shanghai Rep. Office; Bunker Dealer/Broker of Fratelli Cosulich (HK) Ltd.; and Senior Officer in ship management, operation and marine navigation of COSCO Hong Kong (where he managed 10-22 bulk carriers).
Focusing on bunker operational practice, bunker management, finance & law, and other subjects, the two-day Seminar featured the attendance of trainees from Singapore-based AP Oil International, ShenhuaZhonghai Shipping, Shanghai Northsea Shipping, Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping, Sinochem International Corporation, Roxen Shipping, China BaoSteel Shipping, CSIC-IMC Shipping, Norway-based Lorentzen & Stemoco, Singapore-based Seabridge Bunkering, Dingheng Shipping, Tianjin Zhihai Marine Bunker Supply, HSBC Shipping Services and Sinotrans SunnyExpress, etc.
By combining theories with concrete cases, Mr. Cheung proceeded from the elementary to the profound on the nature of bunker, bunker-related industry, price structure and pricing, as well as efficient bunker purchases and complete process from purchasing to bunker delivery. Based on the concrete past experience of his own, Mr. Cheung analyzed the pitfalls and difficulties in bunker management through introduction to bunker management business, in-depth analysis on various issues, and studies & discussions around typical cases. By availing themselves of the related knowledge on bunker management, the ship-owners obtained a thorough insight into the once undervalued details behind the bunker price, thus enormously uplifting the ability in bunker management, cost control and gain improvement.
Meanwhile, the trainees exchanged their minds with the lecturer on real-world problems of their subordinates in relevant links of bunker management. Through full communications and exchanges between trainees and lecturer/other trainees, the training received due effects, living up to the trainees’ expectations.
