World Courier is to open a third wholly foreign-owned office in Guangzhou to take advantage of its proximity to Hong Kong.
"Successful companies realise that China is not one market, but a series of regional markets," said Allen Yan, general manager of World Courier (Shanghai) Co Ltd in a company statement. "While a closer Guangzhou-Hong Kong service circle is being shaped to boost global competitiveness in this part of China, many challenges remain.
Growth in pharmaceutical and R&D investment, the automotive industry and high-tech manufacturing in this region has led to heightened demand for temperature-controlled and time-critical transport and logistics services, said Mr Yan whose company operates a GMP-compliant investigational drug storage facility in Beijing and a GxP-compliant network that extends to over 50 domestic locations.
Stamford, Connecticut-headquartered World Courier has operated in China since 2000. It maintains wholly foreign-owned offices in Beijing, Shanghai and now Guangzhou.
