“The First Summit Forum on China’s Inland Shipping” was Held

On June 8, 2010, “The First Summit Forum on China’s Inland Shipping” was held in the Conference Hall of Shanghai Maritime University. President Li Shaode of China Shipping (Group) delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organizers. Deputy Director Zhou Yupeng of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal People’s Congress attended the forum and made a speech. President Yu Shicheng of Shanghai Maritime University participated in the forum.

As one of the organizers, Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) actively involved in the forum. Deputy Secretary-General Li Gang of SISI attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech of “Low Carbon Economy and China’s Inland Shipping Development”. Based on the current situation of China’s inland water transport and the low-carbon concept of universal concern, Mr. Li made an in-depth analysis on the “carbon” challenge for water transport as well as the low-carbon development of inland shipping.

Speeches and suggestions were also heard from Sun Jiakang, General Manager of COSCO Container Lines Co., Ltd. and Director of SISI Shipping Development Institute, Deputy Director-General Zhu Jianhua of Shanghai Transport and Port Authority, General Manager Zhanglu of Shanghai Changjiang Shipping Corp., Vice President Bao Qifan of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd., and Vice President Zheng Zhaofang of Shanghai Higher People’s Court, on ways to develop China’s inland shipping.
