Xinjiang's new 468-kilometre Kuibei Railway opens cargo service

    XINJIANG'S Kuibei Railway has started offering cargo service on the section from Karamay city to Beitun city, Xinhua reports.


    Launch of the new service enables transportation of north Xinjiang's cargo via railway to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenyang, Hohhot and many more other cities.


    Covering a distance of 468.5 kilometres, the new railway starts off from Kuitun Station at the south and extends northwards to Karamay, Urho, Fuhai and reaches agricultural city of Beitun, having a total of 22 stations, costing CNY5.5 billion (US$846.6 million) to build.
