Jointly organized by CPPCC Shanghai Economic Commission, CPPCC Hongkou District Committee, Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade and SISI, the Symposium on Integral Development of International Shipping and International Trade in North Bund was grandly held at the Broadway Mansions at about 14:00 on August 4, 2009. Chaired by Le Jingpeng, Director of CPPCC Shanghai Economic Commission, the symposium featured an address by Xu Huqing, Chairman of CPPCC Hongkou District Committee, as well as brilliant speeches on integral development of international shipping and international trade in North Bund delivered by such leaders as Yu Beihua, District Mayor of the People's Government of Hongkou District; Zhou Zhenhua, Director of the Development Research Center of Shanghai Municipal People's Government; Sun Weiguo, Secretary of CPC Hongkou District Committee; and Wang Xinkui, Vice Chairman of CPPCC Shanghai Municipal Committee. Speeches were also heard from Zhen Hong, Secretary-General of SISI; Jian Heping, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce; Wang Liang, Deputy Executive Director of Circulation Economy Institute under the Development Research Center of Shanghai Municipal People's Government; Zhang Guofa, Vice President of China Shipping (Group) Company; Fang Huaijin, Chief Financial Officer of Shanghai International Port (Group) Co., Ltd.; Zhang Wenqin, General Manager of Shanghai PanAsia Shipping Co., Ltd.; Zhang Yansheng, Director of the Institute for International Economics Research under National Development and Reform Commission; and Wang Weihua, Deputy Director of the Research Center of Logistics under Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade, to name just a few. At the symposium, experts and leaders expressed their views from different angles and conducted in-depth discussions on the ideas and measures for the development of international shipping and international trade in North Bund, striving to further promote the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center and the development of North Bund.
