CargoSmart offers iPhone app sailing schedules
Date:2010-12-21 Readers:

Cargosmart Ltd, a Software as a Service (SaaS) global shipping and logistics solutions provider, has unveiled its first sailing schedules iPhone application for shippers, logistics service providers and ocean carriers.
CargoSmart's sailing schedules application for the iPhone enables shipping professionals to access sailing schedules from their smartphones.
The company said in a statement that it has provided multiple carrier sailing schedules online and fed schedule information directly to customers' in-house systems by EDI, XML, and Web services for over 10 years. "CargoSmart offers the first interactive, smartphone application to manage critical ocean schedule information."
Joe O'Brien, managing director of CargoSmart North America said, "The sailing schedule app improves efficiency for customers who want to manage schedule information from their iPhones."
Hong Kong-based orient Star Group, a logistics service provider and non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) currently offers CargoSmart-powered sailing schedules through its web site. "Many of our sales representatives use iPhones," said Richard Chu, sales and marketing director of orient Star Group. "The CargoSmart sailing schedule app will allow us to quickly show our customers the user-friendly and up-to-date schedules from our phones."
The new application lets customers look up sailing schedules by carrier, origin city and destination city search criteria. The search results show carriers, origin/destination cities, departure/arrival dates, and transit times. CargoSmart currently offers schedules from 15 ocean carriers and is expanding to offer more carriers schedules.
