A Raft of awards were presented to top Asia logistics providers at the gala Supply Chain Asia awards night at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre with much fanfare as each announcement was made to a good humoured, but sometimes partisan audience.

Doris Cheung, deputy secretary of Hong Kong's Transport & Housing Bureau, was Guest of Honour at a gathering of more than 300 senior industry leaders.

Organised by Supply Chain Asia magazine, the event attracted representatives from the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong Shippers' Council, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Invest Hong Kong together with delegates from transnational giants like Unilever, Samsung, Metro, Best Buy, Haier and Hewlett-Packard.

Senior management from major global supply chain service providers including Agility, Kuehne + Nagel, OOCL, Jones Lange LaSalle and Hactl also participated.

Winners came in 17 categories. There was Hall of Fame Inductee Willy Lin, chairman, Hong Kong Shippers' Council; the Supply Chain Visionary of the Year, Colin Nelson, senior vice president, supply chain, AACEE, Unilever; Supply Chain Manager of the Year (Operations), Denny Yang, head of supply chain and Logistics, Metro China and the Supply Chain Manager of the Year (Strategy) Patrick Xu, supply chain director, Best Buy China.

Then came the Logistics Institute Asia Pacific Air Cargo Terminal of the Year that went to Hactl. There was the Airfreight Forwarder of the Year that went to DB Schenker, the Air Cargo Carrier of the Year that went to Emirates SkyCargo, the Container Terminal of the Year that went to PSA Singapore Seafreight. Then came the Forwarder of the Year, Kuehne + Nagel; the Shipping Line of the Year, Maersk and the Best Supply Chain Consulting Partner, Accenture.

There was the Supply Chain Innovation Award that went to Agility. The Risk Management Award that went to TNT. The Green Supply Chain Award went to Kuehne + Nagel and the Asian and the 3PL of the Year that went to YCH Global and Global 3PL of the Year award that went to Agility too.

Said double winner Agility Asia-Pacific CEO Hans Hickler: "To be recognised as a global leader by our peers in Asia is a great honour. This award means a lot to the 32,000 employees of Agility."
