MAERSK's forwarding arm, Damco, has been selected as a logistics provider for Barry Callebaut, one of Ghana's leading cocoa producers, which exports 2,500 TEU annually to Europe, the US and Asia.

Under the agreement, Damco will provide trucking, customs clearance and air freight services. With the winning of the Barry Callebaut deal, Damco now manages the logistics services for three of the top four cocoa processing companies in Ghana, reports UK's Transport Intelligence.

Damco said it would commit to service delivery and focus on helping Barry Callebaut reduce their operating costs, assisting them to achieve their strategic goals.

"We first started working with Barry Callebaut in 2007, and it is great to have brought them back to Damco. They are a perfect match for us in Ghana, supporting all the core services we provide, imports, exports, airfreight, trucking and ocean freight," said Frank Eshun, managing director of Damco Ghana.
