Delegation of Hong Kong Shipowners Association Visited SISI

At about 10 a.m. on September 9, 2010, a delegation of Hong Kong Shipowners Association visited Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) to exchange minds on the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.


Presided over by Li Gang, Deputy Secretary-General of SISI, the meeting was attended by Vice President Xiao Baojia of Shanghai Maritime University who delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the university and SISI for the arrival of the delegate. Chairman Kenneth Koo of Hong Kong Shipowners Association pointed out the purpose of this visit and expected a deeper understanding of the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center so as to promote further cooperation between both sides.


SISI Secretary Zhen Hong briefly introduced the construction and future development of Shanghai International Shipping Center. Later, He Weina, Senior Staff Member of Yangshan Free Trade Port Area Administration; Liu Xunliang, Secretary-General of SISI Shipbrokers Association; and Gan Aiping, Deputy Director of SISI Shipping Finance Institute introduced the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center, based on “Policies for Shanghai International Shipping Center to attract foreign shipping companies”, “Ideas and details of the registration system for foreign companies”, “Ideas and details of Shanghai International Ship Registration Center”, and “Offshore financial system”.


At the meeting, representatives of Hong Kong Shipowners Association conducted in-depth discussion with the experts on issues of individual concern. Finally, Chairman Kenneth Koo of the Association delivered a concluding speech. He believed that the two international shipping centers of Hong Kong and Shanghai could complement each other, achieve differential development, strengthen mutual cooperation, and work together to build an Asian international shipping center.
