On June 7, 2012, Dr. Jens-Albert Oppel, Managing Director of Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG came with his colleagues to visit Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI).
Prof. Li Gang, Deputy Secretary General of SISI, sent warm greetings on behalf of SISI to the German guests, and gave a brief introduction of SISI. Dr. Jens-Albert Oppel appreciated Prof. Li’s kindness and introduced in return. In particular, Dr. Jens-Albert Oppel mentioned that the company is seeking developing opportunities in Shanghai. He hoped there would be more containers and cargo to be shipped from China to Niedersachsen Ports. The parties then went on to have a friendly exchange on their port operation and project management experience and expertise. Mr. Luedicke, manager of Port of Whilhelmshaven gave detailed information on the construction of JadeWeser Port.
With a total of 16 locations, Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG was established in 2005 and the largest operator of public-sector seaports in Germany, handling 22.3 million tons of cargo annually. Their primary focus is on providing the necessary port infrastructure to their clients. The company also offers an extensive portfolio of commercial and industrial properties which they develop and market. In some cases they operate port superstructure facilities (cargo handling facilities, facilities for the fishing industry, and warehouses). Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG are shaping the port landscape of the future along the North Sea coast of Niedersachsen.
