SISI was Invited to the Release of 2017 Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Centre Development Index

On July 19th, “2017 Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Centre Development Index” was published in Shanghai by Xinhua News China Economic Information Service together with The Baltic Exchange, and meanwhile, “Shanghai International Shipping Centre Construction Blue Book 2017” came out. Prof. Yu Shicheng, director of SISI, and Prof. Yin Ming, deputy secretary-general of SISI, were invited to attend the release. Additionally, Prof. Yu was invited to host the roundtable discussion upon “Global Shipping New Development Tendency and Shanghai International Shipping Centre Construction from the Belt and Road Perspective”, and conducted an analysis with guests on opportunities and challenges faced by shipping centre construction in new period.

According to the report 2017, the top three international shipping centres in the global rankings of comprehensive strength are still Singapore, London and Hong Kong. Shanghai ranks the fifth, narrowly left behind by Hamburg, the fourth. Among this year’s global top ten international shipping centres, five are located in Asia, four in Europe and one in America, indicating a more remarkable rising trend of international shipping centres in Asia.
