In the five years since the establishment of Shandong Port, changes have taken place in all aspects.
Standing in the central control room of Jurong Company in Rizhao Port, Shandong Port, the grain storage and transportation processes are standardized and orderly. As the deputy director of the production business center of Jurong Company, Jing Mingyuan knows every storage and transportation link like the back of his hand. The changes in these five years are naturally engraved in his mind: "The process is smooth, and many things that were impossible before are now very convenient."
Relying on the platform of Shandong port integration reform and development, Rizhao Port takes the service level as the breakthrough point to promote the integrated operation of grain in Shijiu and Lanshan Port areas, systematically improve the capacity of grain loading, unloading, storage and transit, and accelerate the construction of grain core competitive advantages.
In 2022, the grain base project of Rizhao Port started construction, with a single silo capacity of 12,000 tons. Coupled with the streamlined transformation of berths, after completion, the grain unloading efficiency of Shijiu Port Area of Rizhao Port will increase by one third.
At the beginning of 2024, the reconstruction and expansion project of bulk grain storage and transportation system in Lannan, Rizhao Port passed the handover acceptance and took a key step towards completion and production. After completion, the new storage capacity will be increased by 180,000 tons, which will help the bulk grain receiving and unloading capacity of a single berth in Lanshan Port Area reach 6.9 million tons/year.
"The construction of Rizhao Port Grain Base Project and Lannan Bulk Grain Storage and Transportation System Reconstruction and Expansion Project has greatly enhanced Rizhao Port's grain collection and transportation capacity and improved the service level, which is of great significance for promoting the two-way linkage of goods and trade between land and sea in the Yellow River Basin and improving the construction of the' Gongtiehai' intermodal system." Service upgrade: improve service level and ensure national food security.

In terms of capacity support, Shijiu and Lanshan Port of Rizhao Port have grain operation areas, belt flow systems, three grain operation berths, berthing capacity of 150,000-ton grain freighters, and annual turnover capacity of 16 million tons.
From the perspective of radiation-driven, Rizhao Port's grain business radiates to Lingang, southern Shandong and the vast areas in the central and western regions outside the province, attracting many well-known grain and oil enterprises such as COFCO, China Grain Reserve and the four major international grain merchants to cooperate, and a number of Lingang industrial projects have taken root in Rizhao City, relying on the "former port and rear factory" model to promote the mutual promotion of port development and industrial agglomeration. At present, a complete industrial chain and stable supply chain relationship have been formed in the region, such as grain trade, shipping, logistics and warehousing, oil crushing and feed processing.
From 2020 to 2023, Shijiu Port Area, Rizhao Port, Shandong Port, realized the import grain throughput of over 10 million tons for four consecutive years, which provided a strong guarantee for national food security.
Not only that, with the help of Shandong port integration reform and development platform, Rizhao Port has also given full play to the advantages of "connecting Hong Kong to the four seas and bridging Asia and Europe", constantly improving the capacity of grain loading, unloading, warehousing and transit, and enhancing the service level of the port. Since the beginning of this year, with the policy support of port units, the corn receiving and unloading in Rizhao Port has increased by 146% year-on-year, which has greatly guaranteed the corn supply in the hinterland.
Speed up efficiency: focus on tapping potential internally and continuously improve production quality and efficiency.
It will increase by 6% in 2021, 11.9% in 2022 and 9.3% in 2023 compared with 2022. Looking at the data of grain operation in Shijiu Port Area of Rizhao Port, we can find that the comprehensive efficiency of berths is increasing year by year.

Through the research and development of automatic tally system and intelligent warehouse clearance machine, accurate control of goods delivery and accurate and efficient loading measurement were realized. Since it was put into use, the efficiency of bulk grain delivery has increased by 6 0% compared with the traditional mode, and the efficiency of warehouse clearance has increased by 30%.
