Guangxi: Western Route Smooth, Central Route Expansion, Eastern Route Enhancement

Right now, Pinglu Canal is stepping up construction, after the completion of the project, the southwest region's goods through the Pinglu Canal to the sea, the Pearl River Delta to shorten the sea voyage of about 560 kilometres, it is expected that the western land and sea new corridor along the region to save more than 5.2 billion yuan in transport costs each year.

At present, Guangxi is to build a high level of western land and sea new channel as a traction, and further open up the big channel, build a strong hub, weaving a dense network, accelerate the western smooth, the middle line expansion, the eastern line to enhance the work of the channel, the channel within the 44 railways, highways, waterway projects to speed up the implementation of the project.

This year, Guangxi will deepen cooperation with the provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) along the new western land and sea corridor, firmly grasp the key points of interconnection, cost reduction, industrial integration, give full play to the functions of "sea, land and air" ports and harbours along the corridor, and promote the in-depth integration of the corridor, industry, trade and finance, and strive to realise the major infrastructure projects of the new western land and sea corridor. The investment in the major infrastructure projects of the new western land and sea corridor will exceed 80 billion yuan, the container throughput of Beibu Gulf Port will exceed 9 million TEUs, and the number of sea-rail intermodal trains of Beibu Gulf Port will exceed 10,000 trains, and so on.

At Qinzhou Port East Station in Guangxi, the land and sea connection point of the new western land and sea corridor, the iron and sea intermodal shuttle train connecting and transferring presents a prosperous scene. Li Chengke, the person in charge of a chemical enterprise in Chongqing, who is handling the export business at the station, said, "Last year, we sold more than 50,000 tonnes of goods through the new western land and sea corridor, and it is expected that this year it can exceed 150,000 tonnes." As of March 29, this year, the western land and sea new channel iron and sea transport liner transport container goods more than 200,000 TEUs, an increase of 7.2% year-on-year.

In order to build "a river through, eight Gui to the sea" of the opening pattern, Guangxi will combine the port layout of the overall plan, from the economic benefits and production needs, continue to optimise the Pinglu Canal river and sea transport planning and construction and ship type research; combined with the current situation of the port area of Qinzhou and the demand for development, accelerate the construction of efficient river and sea transport service management and organisation system; Do a good job of comprehensive transport master planning for the river-sea intermodal transport operation area and its surrounding areas, and improve the transport infrastructure to provide strong support for the port operation, the layout of port-adjacent industries, and the development of multimodal transport and ancillary industries.
