▲ Duffy announced price increases, large containers of $ 6000
A freight forwarder in the UK said that market demand has driven the growth of freight volume, while the carrier's prudent management of capacity has also played a role in fuelling the growth.
Currently, in the contract market, spot market and FAK market, booking containers into Europe are facing considerable challenges. This is mainly because the market is now controlled by operators, traders and importers need to be flexible to adjust their strategies to deal with this situation.
Sources have predicted that rates could rise sharply in the second half of May.
In response, Peter Sand, principal analyst at Xeneta, said that this market trend could lead many customers to believe that the peak season will come early. He further pointed out that, as such freight and capacity constraints have already occurred in the traditionally low demand quarter, if demand really increases in the third quarter, then freight rates may rise again.
In addition to the European line soaring, a forwarder revealed that the Mediterranean Shipping Company MSC 10 re-launch of the epidemic during the implementation of the diamond class guaranteed space tariffs, U.S. West per 40-foot container of $ 8,000, the U.S. East 10,000 U.S. dollars, effective in May.
At present, Europe and the United States line space has been full to the end of May, some freight forwarders boldly predicted that the next likely to surge to $ 10,000 is the Asian and European routes.
