On 16 June, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) released an update on the earlier oil spill incident.
According to the MPA, prior to the collision with the refuelling vessel Marine Honour, the dredger Vox Maxima reported a sudden loss of engine and steering control. Authorities are investigating the incident and the captain and his crew are currently assisting with the investigation.

The collision resulted in the rupture of one of the Marine Honour's oil tanks, which spilled low-sulphur fuel oil into the sea. Due to tidal currents, part of the oil spill has landed on Singapore's southern coastline, including Sentosa, Labrador Nature Reserve, South Island, Marina South Pier and East Coast Park.
The MPA highlighted that up to 1:30pm on 16 June 2024, no oil slick has been reported in the Singapore Straits Separation Scheme (TSS), navigational traffic in the TSS has not been affected, and port operations have not been impacted.
The MPA is currently working with the Marine Honour's insurer, British Marine, to establish a third-party claims contact to co-ordinate with the affected parties.
