Held successfully from May 9 to 10, 2011, the Practical Chartering Seminar specially invited Mr. Chen Li, founder of Chinica Shipbrokers Ltd., as the course director, lecturing jointly with General Manager Wu Haitao and Chen Shun from the Research Department.
Meanwhile, the trainees exchanged their minds with the lecturers on real-world problems of their subordinates in relevant links of charter business. Through full communications and exchanges between trainees and lecturers/other trainees, the training received due effects, living up to the trainees’ expectations.
By combining theories with concrete cases, three lecturers proceeded from the elementary to the profound on charter-related laws and provisions. They analyzed the pitfalls and difficulties in charter contracts through introduction to charter business, in-depth analysis on various issues, and studies & discussions around typical cases.
Focusing on voyage charter, time charter and other subjects, the two-day Seminar explained the responsibilities of ship-owners and charterers as well as pertinent laws and provisions on breach of contract, off-hire and claim, etc. The Seminar featured the attendance of trainees from Det Norske Veritas, Sinolines, SINOTRANS Chongqing, COSCO Rizhao, JOSCO (HK) Shipping, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., Shanghai Changjiang International Shipping Agency, Vasteast International Transportation Co., Ltd., PEN-WALLEM Shipping Services Company Ltd., Jidong International Freight Agency Co., Ltd., Shandong Far East Marine Group, Kemen Port Shipping & Cargo Transportation Co., Ltd., CSC Ro-Ro Logistics Company Limited, Trans Wagon Int'l (China) Co., Ltd., ROXEN Shipping, Singapore Meilian Shipping (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., and subordinates to China Ocean Shipping Agency.
