Qantas sounds all clear, resumes Sydney-Tokyo flights

    QANTAS Airways will resume flights between Sydney and Tokyo from April 19 after taking advice from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), International Civil Aviation organisation (ICAO), Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency and World Health organisation (WTO).


    "Together with advice, and our own assessment, Qantas is now satisfied that infrastructure services have returned to normal in Tokyo and our crew will now be able to undertake appropriate rest breaks," said Qantas CEO Alan Joyce.


    Its usual schedule of daily flights will continue with departure Sydney local time 2155 hrs, arrival Tokyo local time 0630 plus one. Return from Tokyo at 2045 hrs, arrival at 0715 hrs in Sydney.


    Suspension of thrice weekly services between Perth and Tokyo begin from May 10, according to the company announcement.
