On April 19, Managing Director of Rotterdam Commercial Representative Office in Shanghai Steven Kool, and two of his colleagues, Vice Director Mr. Yuan Rong-gen, Commercial Assistant Jenny Tu, visited Shanghai International Shipping Institute (SISI) to hold a preparatory discussion with Prof. Zhen Hong, Secretary-General of SISI for the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between Shanghai International Shipping Institute and Erasmus University Rotterdam, which was scheduled to be held in May.
Considering the long legacy of relationships and cultural exchange between the People’s Republic of China and the Netherlands, the sister cities of Shanghai and Rotterdam, their shared devotion to excellence in education & research and the importance of the connection between the ports of Shanghai and Rotterdam, SISI and EUR expressed their strong wish for further and broader cooperation and joint activities.
The MOU to be signed in May this year affirms the commitment between the two parties to strengthen the ties between them, to leverage future establishment of more specific collaborative agreements towards academic cooperation and exchange.
Erasmus Smart Port Rotterdam (ESPR) will practically fulfil the commitments defined in the MOU. ESPR is the EUR institute for maritime and port related sciences with 5 faculties participating in the programme and supported by the municipality of Rotterdam, the Port Authority of Rotterdam and Deltalinqs (Trade & Industry connected to the Port of Rotterdam).
